Ingredients

Bread slices

gram flour

salt as required

red chilli powder as required

water

oil to deep fry

For Masala curry

Shallots chopped  1 cup
Tomatoes   2 medium
Green chilly  2
Curry leaves chopped- 2 springs
Ginger- garlic paste- 2-3 tsp
Chilly powder- 1/2 tsp
coriander powder- 1 tsp
Fenugreek powder- 1/3 tsp
Fennel powder- 1/3 tsp
salt to taste
oil for frying

Method

For Masala Curry

In order to prepare the masala heat oil in a pan and saute green chilly, ginger garlic paste, curry leaves till its raw flavor disappears. Add shallots and saute till golden brown. Make a paste of chilly powder, coriander paste, fenugreek and fennel powder with a little water and saute it with onions till oil separates. Now add tomatoes and cook till it becomes soft. If you like it to be  more tangy add in  one tsp of lemon juice.

For Batter

In a bowl add seived gram flour,red chilli powder,salt and mix well adding some water without any lumps.Batter should not be very loose.

 

 

Now,take a bread slice and spread the tomato sauce …..also spread the  masala gravy  over the tomato sauce as shown in the picture below

 

 

 

 

 

Now take another bread slice spreaded with tomato sauce and place it over the applied masala gravy.now seal the ends of the slices by applying the water across the borders.doing this you can avoid the curry coming out of the slices while deep frying.

Now dip  the bread slice in the gram flour batter so that it is covered totally with the batter and immediately fry the slices in hot oil.fry till it is golden brown and place it on absorbent paper.cut thr bread bajji diagonally so that it is easy to eat. 🙂

serve hot with tomato sauce ..
