Pappu-Mamidikaya

Ingredients
1 cup Toor Dal/Yellow Lentil/Kandipappu

2 very small sized mangoes chopped into pieces

pinch of turmeric

2-3 green chillies

1 cup of tamarind juice(depends on your tamarind)

coriander leaves

salt to taste

Popu/Seasoning/Tadka

3-4 tsp oil

1 tsp ghee

1 tsp black mustard seeds

1/2 tsp jeera

4-5 garlic

curry leaves

pinch of hing/asafoetida/inguva

3-4 red chillies

Procedure

  • Pressure cook Toor dal ¬†along with green chillies,chopped mango slices and turmeric pouring little water till the dal is completely soaked (All can be kept in a same bowl).When it is done smash the dal(no need to make it like a paste).
  • Mean while in a vessel pour oil and ghee.when it is heated add all the seasoning items one by one leave it for 1-2mts and add the cooked dal.
  • When the dal is sticking to the vessel add tamarind juice,salt and mix all together and leave it till the mango-dal is ready to your desired consistency.
  • Finally add coriander leaves and switch off the stove.
