Palak-dal/Pappu-Palakura

Ingredients

2 bunches of Palak

1 cup of Toor dal/yellow lentil/kandipappu

pinch of turmeric

2-3 green chillies

1 cup of tamarind juice (depends on your tamarind)

coriander leaves

salt to taste

Seasoning/Popu/Tadka

3-4 tsp oil

1tsp ghee

1tsp black mustard seeds

1/2 tsp jeera

4-5 garlic

curry leaves

pinch of hing/asafoetida/inguva

3-4 red chillies

Method

Cut the ends of Palak and clean in fresh water……chop the palak and keep aside

Pressure cook Toordal along ¬†with palak,green chillies,turmeric pouring water till the dal is completely soaked(all can be kept in the same bowl)for 5-6 whistles…….when it is done smash the dal and keep aside(no need to make like a paste)

Meanwhile in a vessel pour oil and ghee……when it is hot add all the seasoning items one by one.leave it for 1-2 mts and add the cooked dal….

when the dal is sticking to the vessel add tamarind juice,salt and mix all together and leave it till the palak-dal is ready to your desired consistency.

Finally add the coriander leaves and switch off the stove…serve along with rice ,papads/roti
