Ingredients

700 gms White Pomfret(here i have taken 8 big pieces of Pomfret)

2 medium sized onion paste

2-3 green chillies finely chopped

1tsp ginger-garlic paste

pinch of turmeric

1-2 tsp red chilli pwd

salt to taste

1 medium sized tomato finely chopped

4-5 tsp oil

water as required

11/2 tsp garam masala(here i have used 5 cloves,4 cardamom,1 inch long cinnamon,1tsp dhaniya pwd,1/2 tsp jeera,1tsp khus-khus to prepare garam masala)

curry leaves

coriander leaves

Method

Clean the fish and marinate with sufficient salt,red chilli pwd,turmeric and keep aside for 15mts in a refrigerator…..

Take a cooking vessel and add oil to it……once the oil is hot add ¬†onion paste,green chilli ,some salt and cook till the onions changes its colour to light brown….then,add finely chopped tomato and cook till the tomatoes are soft…..when the oil is oozing out add curry leaves,turmeric,red chilli pwd ¬†and cook for a minute…..

now,add ginger-garlic paste and mix well …..add pomfret pieces and toss them gently…….(fish cooks fast and the pieces break easily…..so once you add the pieces, be careful while you mix them…..handle them gently…..better not to use sharp edge spoons)

Once the pieces are sticking to the vessel add some water so that the pieces are 1/4th seen……then add garam masala and mix gently…….(hold the vessel with your hands using kitchen napkin and rotate the dish clockwise or anti clockwise so that the masala spreads all over the curry)…..

adjust the salt and cook with closed lid for 5mts……after 5mts open the lid and toss the pieces to the other side and close the lid for another 5mts……. cook till the gravy thickens….

Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with rice,rasam……
